During the event, a new 2D platformer named Sonic Mania was announced to be coming out in 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. This mod changes the layout of Green Hill Zone act 1 to how it was in the Game Gear/Master System version of Sonic 1, with the Mania boss intact. Earlier this year, a celebration took place for the twenty fifth anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
